EGG LAYERS
Our sassy hens spend their days free ranging the entirety of the farm, truly living their best lives. At night, they are locked in their coop to protect them from predators, because unfortunately, there are a lot of them. During the day, the flock has access to endless acres of lush green grass & bugs to snack on, with the occasional summer treat of watermelon or cucumbers. Since they get a diverse diet of chicken feed, grass, bugs & leftover garden scaps, the color of their yolk is bright and deep - something that you will never see from a grocery store egg! This a sure tell sign of higher nutritional value.
Jesse created a system where our chickens are able to graze fresh grass each and every day. The home farm houses 2 separate coops, one stationary & one that moves every few days. We are able to naturally fertilize the acres of our farm through our mobile coop. In a 72 day rotation, our chickens graze 6 acres at a time, providing nutrients back into our soils while enjoying their new 'salad bar.'
Eggs are available for purchase each day at the farm store & customers have the option to take part in a weekly program where they have a scheduled pick up for their share of eggs. Contact abigail@hiddencreekfarmnj.com for share availability.
