At Hidden Creek, we Believe That we Should Always be Striving to be Better Stewards of the Land
We often joke that if it doesn't benefit our soil nutrient analysis, we aren't interested. While we are 5th- and 6th-generation farmers by lineage, we are the first generation on this land - which means every acre we farm today, we built from the ground up. In order to do that right, it takes a real dedication to minimizing our impact on the ground. We practice no-till farming, rotational grazing, participate in cover crop initiatives & forest stewardship programs to make sure that we meet that goal. We raise beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and eggs here on the farm. We render our own tallow in-house from our own animals. When you buy from Hidden Creek, it came from Hidden Creek.
Our Story: Building Hidden Creek Farm
Jesse has been farming since before most kids learn to ride a bike. Raised on a multigenerational dairy farm in Salem County, he has spent his entire life in agriculture. Long before buying local became mainstream, he was raising cattle and selling beef directly to families in our community.
In 2019, we got married, welcomed our first child, and purchased my family's farm, Davis Farm, which we've since rebranded as Hidden Creek.
What we purchased was exactly what we needed - a blank slate. There wasn't a single strand of fence on the property for livestock. The original farmhouse was beyond saving and had to be torn down. A horse barn became our home. A hay barn became our farm store. A 21,000-square-foot industrial chicken house found new life as storage for equipment, straw, and steer pens.
Everything we've built since then has been created from the ground up. We designed the farm to reflect our own vision; one focused on raising high-quality food, caring for the land, and creating a place where our family and community could grow together.
Hidden Creek wasn't inherited in the form you see today. It has been built one fence, one pasture, one building, and one animal at a time. We're proud of what we've created, and even more excited about where we're headed.
Raising the Next Generation
We are farmers, we are husband and wife, but most importantly, we are Mama and Daddy. Our littles are with us more times than not and love this business just as much as we do. Most days you'll find them right alongside us - moving chicken tractors, feeding up at night, learning the rhythms of a working farm the same way Jesse did. At the end of the day, you'll most likely find us on the front porch in our rockers, cold beer in hand, watching this tiny army get themselves into trouble.
How we Farm
From the beginning, we knew that farming with integrity meant starting with the soil. Everything we do at Hidden Creek - the no-till practices, the rotational grazing, the multi-species cover cropping - is designed to keep this land healthy, productive, and improving year over year.
Healthy soil grows healthy pasture, and healthy pasture raises healthy animals. Healthy animals produce meat and eggs that are genuinely more nutritious, including higher in omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid, and fat-soluble vitamins than conventionally raised alternatives.
Selling direct means you can ask us exactly what our animals were fed, whether we use antibiotics or vaccines, and how they were raised from day one. We'll give you a straight answer every time, because we were there for every step of it. That relationship is something no supply chain can replicate, and it's the foundation that Hidden Creek is built on.
